AGM & gel batteries do not contain acid, but an electrolyte gel. The gel achieves a better starting performance than normal acid batteries. In addition, these batteries have a very low self-discharge as well as a very high vibration resistance and are absolutely maintenance-free. The AGM and gel batteries basically only differ in the internal structure of the battery cells.
