Standpipes are the upper parts of the forks that determine the diameter and length of the forks.
Standpipes are often made of high-quality materials such as aluminium or steel and, depending on the model, may have different surface coatings to provide better corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.
Damage to the stanchions can lead to significant problems, such as oil leakage or the inability to adjust the fork. It is therefore important to check the standpipes regularly for scratches, cracks or other damage.
