German Moto Masters 2024 final

Fighting spirit despite technical frustration:

A season finale full of challenges
and valuable experience

05–07 September 2024

Oschersleben

My bike was delivered by Yart on Thursday evening. A new standard engine and the complete electronics were replaced.

Training and qualifying were on the agenda for Friday. I went out motivated and had to get used to the bike. I quickly realised that the engine brake setup didn't fit and that I didn't have one. In addition, the engine characteristics were different, I had a big power gap out of the corners and on the straights (reason: the bike was run in on the test bench but not set up).
I tried to get the best out of the material, but found it very difficult as I didn't have the SW to adjust the engine brake. The result was P10 for the race.

On the second day (race day 1) I went out one turn before the race and tried out a new setup for the engine brake for the first time (we were still able to organise the SW).

Adjusting the setup is very time-consuming, as you can only adjust and test it before the turn. Unfortunately, I had a technical fault on lap 3, which put my entire on-board power supply out of action. EVERYTHING went out, but I was just able to catch the bike in a fast corner and avoid a crash.

Now it was time to localise the fault in order to be ready for the race. Unfortunately, this troubleshooting was too time-consuming and I didn't find the fault in time. Another zero result due to a technical defect. The cause was a cable break in the emergency stop switch. Fortunately, the fault could be rectified in the evening.

On the third day (race day 2), I continued to experiment with the engine brake setting. It got better step by step, but unfortunately we only had one warm-up session that day, so I had to race with this setting. Due to the times achieved in the race the day before, I started from 12th position.

I got off to a good start, took the first corner in tenth place and overtook another competitor on the brakes in the following left-hand corner. I followed in 9th position and realised that my bike was unfortunately not running well. Even in the slipstream, I had difficulties in keeping up with the rider in front of me. So I tried to make up for the lost metres on the brakes and increase my cornering speed. I was able to overtake rider after rider with great difficulty and was in 7th position with three laps to go. I was getting faster with every lap and was able to close the gap to the opponent in front of me. Now I was at the rear of the driver in front of me. I took the last corner before the straight with more momentum and was able to follow in the slipstream, but unfortunately I couldn't pass because my bike just didn't have the power. But the overtaking manoeuvre had to be done now, so I left the throttle open longer and passed on the brake, but it was very late and my engine brake was not engaging strongly, so I went a little wide. Since the next corner was a right-hander, I was still able to get ahead of the rider and hold my position.

P6 was now mine and I held this position until the end.

My conclusion for this year:

If you think it can't get any worse, then you shouldn't say it, because that was the case in 2024. There are no more technical problems and the resulting failures. Nevertheless, we always kept going and never gave up. Unfortunately, we had to admit defeat to technology this year.

Until halfway through the year, we were leading the 600 Supersport class with 8 points. Unfortunately, one problem after the other arose, so that we achieved 4 zero results and thus finished the season in 7th place overall.

We would like to express our sincere thanks for your support during this challenging season of the German Moto Masters. Even though the season did not go as smoothly and as hoped, I really appreciate your commitment. Thanks to your help, I was able to gain further valuable experience that will make me stronger and better in the future. Your support has enabled me to continue, even when things were difficult.

I hope that you will continue to support me as a partner in the future and I look forward to celebrating many more successes together. Thank you again for your trust and support.

Best regards,
