22–24 July 2022
Oschersleben
In July, the Börde Klassik once again took place in the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. As in Assen, Josef, Walter and Rolf were also at the start in Oschersleben for the Fun Racing Team Calw. After Felix had been absent in Assen due to illness, he was able to take part in the race again in Oschersleben. Andy was not yet fit again due to his crash in Walldürn and Flo was also unable to take part in the event due to a defect on his SR500.
So with four riders we went into the qualifying sessions, which were finished with more and less satisfying times. Josef and Rolf finished 14th and 16th in the Top Twins and were close to the Top 10 with lap times of 1:49.173 and 1:52.365 respectively. The bad news here is that Josef broke the manifold on his Aprilia, which made it impossible for him to start the races. Walter finished 19th in Regularity 3 with a reference time of 1:59.291. Felix had hoped for more than 18th on the grid before the weekend started. However, with a lap time of 1:45.181, the gap to the top 10 places was a little too big to be able to fully attack in the race. The broken gearshift linkage in qualifying contributed to the situation. But that's racing - wipe your mouth and attack!
With this attitude, we started the races and the good news was that all the drivers who were able to take part in the races made it to the front!
Walter finished 14th with a lap time of 1:56.651, improving his qualifying time by almost 2.5 seconds. Rolf also improved his time by almost 2.5 seconds (1:50.652) and ended up in 13th place in the field of 19 starters. Felix also improved his lap time and ended up in 16th place (lap time: 1:43.534). In the second race, he was then able to finish in the points and take 15th place.
Besides the fun on the race track, the visit of our sponsors from Stein-Dinse was another highlight of this weekend. Carsten and his team visited us at the race track with a lavishly filled box full of lubricants and care products. As in the previous year, we used the visit to have a few petrol talks and take photos. The gifts we brought with us provided further fun in the evening, as we raffled them off among ourselves. This not only led to wild negotiations and various swaps with gloves, helmet pad cleaner and chain sprays, but above all to plenty of good humour!
Many thanks to the Stein-Dinse team for their visit and the abundant gifts, which we were very happy about!
The next race in Most is coming up in a fortnight.
Until then and best regards
from the Fun Racing Team Calw
