The Roadster leather jacket with integrated airbag has been visually upgraded compared to its predecessor. The new design hides the cartridge almost invisibly in the chest area. Thus, the Roadster 2.0 airbag jacket hardly differs visually from a motorbike leather jacket without airbag system.
The rider is optimally protected in the event of a fall by the proven Helite TURTLE airbag system. A high-quality SAS-TEC Level 2 back protector is additionally fitted over the airbag like a turtle shell. This means that, in addition to the protection provided by the airbag itself, punctual loads are distributed over the entire airbag in the back area and absorbed. The protection is therefore many times higher than with a standard airbag. In addition, the Roadster has KNOX protectors on the shoulders and elbows, which can be removed as an option.
The elaborate workmanship guarantees a long service life. The 17-28 litre protective volume (depending on size) provides protection for the neck, spine, rib cage, pelvis, tailbone, head, collarbone and internal organs. The Roadster leather blouson has a fashionable cut, high-quality workmanship and can be worn all year round thanks to a removable thermal lining. The upper material is made of 1.2mm thick cowhide.

The release
The release is done mechanically via a ripcord that is firmly connected to the vehicle and is plugged into the jacket when getting on and off the vehicle. Accidental deployment by forgetting to release the ripcord when dismounting from the vehicle is very unlikely, as a force of 300Nm (30Kg) is required to deploy the airbag. By replacing the CO2 cartridge, the waistcoat is immediately ready for use again.
When triggered, the system has the optimum pressure after 80-100 milliseconds (depending on size) to develop the full protective effect. This time span has been determined on the basis of Helite's many years of experience and numerous calculations and tests in order to provide the optimum pressure to protect the body at the exact moment of impact. Already during the release process, when the full pressure has not yet been reached, important parts of the body are protected.
