The gearbox housing for motorbikes is the outer protective frame for the gearbox and protects it from damage and dirt. There are different types of gearbox housings that can be selected depending on the model and make of the motorbike. A damaged or leaking gearbox housing can cause damage to other motorbike components and should therefore be checked regularly for cracks, dents or leaks.
Some gearbox housings are specially designed for use in sports or racing motorbikes and have additional cooling holes to regulate the temperature of the gearbox and prevent overheating.
